The 2nd edition of Inter Cordes, which will take place from February 15 to 21, 2021 in Paris and Bobigny, is a set of several musical events:

 

International violin and cello competition,

Chamber music concerts and

Meetings, conferences, exhibitions and master classes

 

ORIGIN & OBJECTIVES

Founded on the initiative of Maria Christiany, president of the French-Russian music and arts school Artima based in Paris, violinist, concert artist and French violin teacher of Russian origin, Inter Cordes aims at strengthening cultural ties between France and Russia and promote cultural and musical exchange between young talented musicians of all nationalities.

Inter Cordes 2021 partners are the Jean Wiener Conservatory of Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) and the Superior Conservatory of Novosibirsk (based in Siberia, Russia).

The 2021 Inter Cordes international string instruments competition is open to participants from 5 to 28 years old (and up to 38 years old for ensembles) of all nationalities, who will be grouped according to their age.

 

Applications are open since 1st April 2020.

The 2021 edition of Inter Cordes also aims at creating a Franco-Russian orchestra, composed of musicians from the Novosibirsk orchestra "Bright Bows" and young French musicians who will perform for a series of concerts in France and in Russia.

 

This competition is freely accessible to the public.

JURY

Famous musicians will be invited to participate as jury members of the Competition.

 

The Chairman of the jury is Alexis Galpérine, an academic at the Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP), former student of Roland Charmy, Ivan Galamian and Henryk Szeryng.

PRIZES

The winners of this competition will play a gala concert in Paris with the chamber orchestra of Novossibirsk "Bright Bows".

The competition offers the following prizes: 1000 €, a concert performance with the orchestra "Bright Bows" in France and in Russia, a fine contemporary bow, master-classes and different prizes from our partners.

 

RULES & REGISTRATION

1. The International Competition for String Instruments "Inter Cordes" is open to violinists and cellists of all nationalities. The Competition will take place in Paris and Bobigny (France) from 26 October to 1 November 2020.The competition is organized by the Culturel Association "ArtimA " in the partnership with Bobigny Conservatory of Music (France) and Novossibirsk State Conservatory (Russia).

2. The competition runs in several categories, based on the age at the time of the competition:

- 1st Category: for participants from 5 to 7 years old;

- 2nd Category: for participants from 8 to 10 years old;

- 3rd Category: for participants from 10 to 12 years old;

- 4th Category: for participants from 13 to 15 years old;

- 5th Category from 15 to 18 years old

- 6th Category from 19 to 28 years old

- 7th Category Violin or Cello ensembles: duo, trio, grands ensembles. Up to 38 years old.

3. The deadline to apply for the competition is the 10th January 2021.

4. The following documents for the application should be submitted by e-mail at intercordes@gmail.com :

- Recent photo

- Copy of passport

- Contact information

- Curriculum vitae (with indication of principal teachers)

- Link (YouTube or any other format) to one of your recent musical performance of the piece of a French or a Russian composer.

The video will be the first phase of the competition. The two following phases will take place in Paris and Bobigny.

5. Participation fee is 100€ for the soloists and 50€ for each member of an ensemble. To be paid at the time of inscription to the following account:

6. All pieces must be performed by memory.

7. Participants must provide the scores to the jury (including the piano part).

8. The association ArtimA reserves the right to use audio and video materials taken during the competition, as well as the photos and distributing them without paying extra fees for the participants.

9. Travelling and accommodation fees are the responsibility of the candidate.

10. The Jury of the competition is responsible for all artistic and musical decisions.

11. The competition can provide an accompanist during preliminary or the final phase. Please contact us to know the conditions.

12. The registration fee and the fee for the accompaniment cannot be refunded.

13. The present conditions can be modified in the interests of the competition.

PROGRAM

The competition will be held in three phases: two preliminary phases (the first one by video) and the final one. 

1/ PROGRAM FOR VIOLIN

* Category A (5 to 7 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round: two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

3rd round: a piece among the concertos indicated: Rieding, concerto in B minor; Vivaldi, concerto in A minor or G major.

 

* Category B (8 to 10 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece of contemporary style which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

3rd round: a piece among the concertos indicated: Accolay concerto a moll; Beriot Concerto N9; Beriot, Scenes from the ballet.

 

* Category C (10 to 12 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece of contemporary style which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

- Caprice or study of your choice.

3rd round: one song among the following: Vivaldi, Les Quatre Saisons (movement of your choice); Bach, a-moll concerto; Beriot, scenes from the ballet; Kreisler, Prélude and allegro.

 

* Category D (13 to 15 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece of contemporary style which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

- Caprice or study of your choice.

3rd round: one song among the following: Vivaldi, Les Quatre Saisons (movement of your choice); Bach, concerto amoll; Beriot, scenes from the ballet; Kreisler Prélude and allegro.

* Category E (15 to 18 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece of contemporary style which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

- Bach, 2 Sonata or Partite movements for solo violin of your choice (except fugue and chaconne)

3rd round: one song among the following: Vivaldi, Les Quatre Saisons (movement of your choice); Mozart, concerto N ° 3 (1 or 2 and 3 movements with cadence)

* Category F (19 to 28 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece of contemporary style which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

- Bach, for solo violin of your choice: 1st sonata, adagio and fugue; 2nd sonata, bass and fugue; chaconne.

3rd round: one song among the following: Mozart, concertos N° 3 or N° 5 (1 or 2 and 3 movements with cadence).

The winners of the competition will play a gala concert accompanied by the Novosibirsk Chamber Orchestra.

* Category G: chamber music, ensemble (5 to 38 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round: free program up to 25 minutes. The presence in the chosen program of French or Russian composers is compulsory.

2/ PROGRAM FOR CELLO

* Category A (up to 10 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

3rd round: 1st or 2nd and 3rdmovement of your choice from the following pieces: Breval, concertino; Vivaldi, c-dur concert RV 399; Nölck, concertino;

* Category B (11 to 14 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

- Caprice or study of your choice.

3rd round: one piece of choice among the following: I.C. Bach, Concerto; Haydn (Popper), Concerto c-dur; Vivaldi, concerto a-moll (1st or 2nd and 3rd movement)

* Category C (15 to 18 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

3rd round: one piece of choice among the following: Boccerini, concerto; Haydn (Popper), Concerto c-dur; Saint-Saens, Concerto; Vainberg, Concertino.

* Category D (19 to 28 years old):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round:

- Two different pieces: one of a Russian composer and the other of a French composer.

- An imposed piece which will be sent by e-mail 6 weeks before the start of the rounds.

- Bach suite for cello alone, of your choice.

3rd round: 1st or 2nd and 3rdmovement of your choice from the following pieces: Saint-Saens, Concerto; Tchaikovski, Variations on a Rococo theme ; Haydn, Concerto C-dur (1stor 2nd and 3rd movement); Vainberg, Concertino.

The winners of the Competition will have the opportunity to play a gala concert accompanied by the Novosibirsk Chamber Orchestra "Bright Bows".

* Category E (Ensemble, chamber music):

1st round: eliminating, by video. A piece of a Russian or French composer.

2nd round: free program up to 30 minutes. The presence in the chosen program of French or Russian composers is compulsory.
